We got our I-171H!

Guess what came in the mail today from the USCIS (Immigration)???!

This means that NEXT WEEK our dossier will be sent to Ethiopia via special courier, and we will officially be "DTE."

~Tonight I pray for the government in Ethiopia, that they will make wise choices in their effort to help those affected by the current famine. I'm also praying that the hearts of other nations will be softened and all possible relief and help can be provided.

  1. How exciting!!! How long did it take total before you got it? We're waiting for our home study to be finalized and then we can send for ours!! Just curious how long the wait time was for you guys. :) Wahoo!!!

  2. For us it took 2 weeks from sending in our 600A to get an appointment for fingerprinting, which was 6 weeks out. Then it took 1 week to get the I-171H (which by the way doesn't say I-171H anywhere on it). So a total of 9 weeks. Not bad, in comparison. Depending on the state, it can take longer or shorter at any of those times. Some people got fingerprinting appointments within two weeks of sending their 600A off, but then had to wait longer on the other end for processing. Also, make sure to research where the closest processing center is - for us it was over in Oregon, just 20 minutes from us, rather than in our same State, 3.5 hrs away. We made sure to mention this in the 600A cover letter.
You guys are getting close! So excited that things are moving forward for you, after the detour for Addi...

  3. Thank you!!!! Is there a form for the cover letter or do you just write the information that was included in our dossier packet and make it your own letter?

And thankfully, we didn't have too much of a detour since Addi is FINE!! Still praising the Lord for that one!!! :D

  4. You write your own, but there are guidelines in the 600A instructions that you download from the USCIS website. I can email you ours if you want...
